Dear Government Leaders,

We live in a pluralistic and open society, and the traditional system of monogamy is no longer suitable for modern lifestyles. This rigid law restricts people’s freedom and choice, leading to population shrinkage and low birth rate in many developed countries. To solve these problems, we call on the government to abolish monogamy and stop forcing adults to choose a male-female combination in the family.

First, the institution of monogamy is outdated. In modern society, many people seek a family form different from the traditional model. Gay couples, single-parent families, unmarried couples and co-living partners, etc., these forms have become realistic options. Therefore, the government should recognize the legitimacy of these family forms and provide them with corresponding legal protection.

Second, the monogamous system restricts people’s freedom and choice. Everyone has the right to pursue their own happiness and love. However, when monogamy becomes an enforced institution, these freedoms and choices are taken away. Governments should provide adults with the right to choose their own partners and family forms, which can increase people’s happiness and enthusiasm for procreation.

Finally, the institution of monogamy has had a negative impact on demographic issues. Due to the restrictions of this system, many young people choose not to marry, marry late or have late births, which further exacerbates the trend of population shrinkage and low birth rate. Abolishing monogamy and no longer forcing adults to choose a male-female family mix can provide people with more choice and flexibility, which can change the attitude of young people and make them more willing to start a family and raise children.

In conclusion, we call on the government to abolish monogamy and no longer force adults to choose the combination of men and women in the family, so as to promote social diversity and progress. The government can provide equal rights and guarantees for different family forms by revising corresponding laws and policies. At the same time, the government should actively encourage young people to marry and raise children, and provide corresponding economic and social support to stimulate people’s enthusiasm and desire for childbearing.

In the era of globalization and informationization, we must face the existence of different cultures and values with an open and inclusive attitude. Abolishing monogamy and no longer forcing adults to choose the gender combination of the family can promote social progress, improve people’s freedom and happiness, and solve the problems of population shrinkage and low birth rate.
